Samuel H. Still papers, 1848-1868.

Two receipts: 28 Feb. 1848, Wm. Jas. Smith to Still, for full payment for "two negroes named Mary Ann and her child Edmond"; 2 Jan. 1855, for partial payment from Still to E[tienne] Lartigue for "Fanny and her two Children Abram & Andrew." Agreement, 18 March 1857, from Holman & Guimarin, of Randolph County, Georgia, authorizing S.H. Still "for us and in our name and for our benefit to communicate our secret for making H.B. Elder & Co's Excelsior soap to whomsoever he may contract with, for a valuable consideration, to sell Individual or Family rights in [Barnwell] District for a valuable consideration." Note, 4 Jan. 1868, in which Jane E. Still acknowledges receipt of "payment in full" from S.H. Still for two notes, one for "seventy dollars and the other note was given for one hundred dollars in Confederate money."
